Tour Details and Itinerary
Experience the highlights of ancient Egypt on a full Luxor one day trip from Marsa Alam. This guided tour covers both the East and West Banks of the Nile, offering a rich blend of temples, tombs, and scenic views—all in a single day.
The tour begins with early morning pickup from your hotel around 4:00 AM. You’ll travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle across desert and Nile Valley landscapes, arriving in Luxor by mid-morning.
West Bank: Tombs, Temples, and Colossi
Your exploration starts on Luxor’s West Bank, home to some of Egypt’s most iconic ancient sites. First, visit the Valley of the Kings, where you’ll enter three selected tombs, each decorated with detailed carvings and paintings that once guided pharaohs through the afterlife. Among the tombs in the valley are those of Tutankhamun and Ramses VI, along with many others carved deep into the hills.
Next, visit the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a striking structure built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Known for its symmetry and terraces, it honors Egypt’s most powerful female ruler. A short drive away, pause for photos at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive seated statues that once guarded the entrance to a lost temple.
East Bank: Temples and River Views
Around midday, cross the Nile by ferry or motorboat to reach the East Bank. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river, where you can take a break before the afternoon’s discoveries.
After lunch, explore the sprawling Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest and most impressive religious structures ever built. Walk through the vast Hypostyle Hall, known for its 134 towering columns, and discover ancient chapels, statues, and obelisks spread across the site.
If time allows, there is also an option to visit Luxor Temple, located closer to the river. This beautifully preserved site is especially atmospheric in the late afternoon, with its statues, inscriptions, and peaceful setting.
Return to Marsa Alam
As the sun begins to set, begin the return drive to Marsa Alam. You’ll arrive back at your hotel between 8:00 and 9:00 PM, ending a day filled with unforgettable sights and stories.
This Luxor one day trip is ideal for travelers who want to see Egypt’s most famous ancient landmarks while staying on the Red Sea coast.
