Tour Details and Itinerary
This two-day Cairo tour from Marsa Alam offers a balanced mix of ancient landmarks, cultural discovery, and personal downtime. With domestic flights and an overnight stay included, it’s a relaxed and immersive way to experience the highlights of Egypt’s capital without rushing.
Day 1: Pyramids, Nile Views, and Old Cairo
Your journey begins early with pickup from your hotel in Marsa Alam around 3:00 AM. You’ll be transferred by car to Hurghada Airport for a morning flight to Cairo. After landing, your Egyptologist guide will meet you and begin the day’s exploration.
The first stop is the Giza Plateau, home to the world-famous Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Walk up close to these ancient monuments and take in the scale of the structures that have stood for over 4,500 years. Just below, you’ll find the Sphinx, carved from a single block of stone, along with the Valley Temple, where ancient burial rituals once took place.
Enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant, typically with views of the pyramids. In the afternoon, there’s the option to join a short felucca boat ride on the Nile, offering a peaceful break on the water. Later, explore the historic heart of Islamic Cairo with a walk along Al Muizz Street, lined with mosques and medieval architecture, or browse the stalls of Khan El Khalili Bazaar, a bustling market filled with spices, scarves, and handmade goods.
In the evening, you’ll check into a centrally located hotel in Cairo for dinner and a comfortable night’s rest.
Day 2: Museum Treasures and Citadel Views
After breakfast, the second day begins with a visit to the Egyptian Museum, home to thousands of ancient artifacts, statues, and royal relics. A highlight of the collection is the golden mask of Tutankhamun, displayed along with items from his intact tomb.
From there, you’ll head to the Citadel of Salah El-Din, a fortified complex offering sweeping views over Cairo. Within its walls is the Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, a striking building with Ottoman-style architecture and high domes.
If time allows, the tour may include a visit to Coptic Cairo, where some of the city’s oldest Christian churches are found, including the Hanging Church and other historic sites in Old Cairo.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to Cairo Airport for an evening flight to Hurghada. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will return you to your hotel in Marsa Alam, where you can relax and reflect on two days filled with history, culture, and vibrant city life.
