Discover the beauty of southern Egypt on this two-day private journey from Marsa Alam to Aswan and Abu Simbel. This cultural trip combines ancient temples, Nile views, and the peaceful charm of Aswan city.
Day 1: Marsa Alam – Aswan – Philae Temple – Sunset on the Nile
Your adventure begins early at 05:00 AM when you’re picked up from your hotel in Marsa Alam. The drive to Aswan takes several hours with a short rest stop halfway for refreshments or restroom use.
Upon arrival in Aswan, enjoy a short motorboat ride across the Nile to the island of Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Surrounded by calm waters, this temple is one of Egypt’s most beautiful and best-preserved monuments. Spend about an hour exploring the courtyards and carvings as your guide explains the legends of the ancient gods.
After your visit, make a brief stop at a local bazaar before enjoying lunch by the Nile River at a restaurant offering traditional Egyptian dishes (drinks available at extra cost).
Later, check into your 4-star hotel in Aswan and relax before your next activity — a sunset motorboat tour around Elephantine Island, one of the oldest inhabited places in Egypt. Watch the colors of the sunset reflect on the Nile as the day ends in peace.
Day 2: Abu Simbel Temples – Aswan High Dam – Return to Marsa Alam
Wake up early for the convoy to Abu Simbel, located about two hours south of Aswan. This magnificent site features the twin temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, carved directly into the mountain over 3,000 years ago. The temples are famous for their colossal statues and for being relocated during the construction of the Aswan High Dam to save them from flooding.
After exploring Abu Simbel, return to Aswan for a short visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of the modern engineering marvels that shaped Egypt’s 20th-century history. You’ll also have time for one last shopping stop before beginning the drive back to Marsa Alam around 2:00 PM. Expect to arrive back at your hotel around 8:00 PM.
This tour offers a perfect balance of history, relaxation, and scenic Nile views, giving you a deep look at Egypt’s southern treasures.
