Tour Description & Itinerary:
Set aside your day for a friendly journey into the centuries‑old port town of Quseir. We’ll pick you up from your Marsa Alam hotel around 8:00 AM and drive north for about 1.5 hours along the Red Sea coast. Upon arrival, we’ll take a moment to stretch and breathe in the sea breeze before beginning our cultural stroll through Quseir’s historic streets.
First, we wander through the old town’s winding alleys—lined with wonderfully well‑preserved Ottoman and French colonial architecture. You’ll learn how this port once thrived on trade, connecting Africa and Arabia over centuries. Our guide will point out charming mosques, centuries‑old houses, and hidden fountains that locals still treasure today.
Next, we visit the Ottoman‑era fort that overlooks the harbor. Here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of fishing boats bobbing on turquoise waters—a perfect photo moment. Then we head down to the seafront where fishermen are still mending nets and preparing their catch of the day.
A delicious seafood lunch awaits at a local restaurant overlooking the harbor, featuring freshly‑caught fish, rice, salads, bread, and refreshing mint tea. You’ll taste the flavors of the region that connect to its maritime past.
After lunch, take a leisurely walk along the corniche toward the old souk (market). Browse spice stalls, handmade textiles, local jewelry, and beautiful ceramics—all at a relaxed pace with your guide’s help to haggle and choose items. You’ll also get a glimpse into local life as wives shop, children play, and merchants call out their wares.
Before heading back around late afternoon, we’ll stop at a beachfront café for a final cup of mint tea or juice while you enjoy the calm Red Sea view. By around 3:00 PM, we’ll be back in Marsa Alam with warm memories of Quseir’s history, flavor, and charm.
