Tour Description & Itinerary:
Embark on a two-day escape from Marsa Alam to southern Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. Day 1 kicks off early—your driver collects you around 5 AM for the scenic 4–6 hour drive to Aswan. Craving breakfast? We can pack a handy box to keep energy levels high before you check in at your Aswan hotel.
Your Egyptologist guide then leads you above the Nile dam: the stunning High Dam, a mid-20th‑century engineering marvel that reshaped Egypt’s landscape and power supply. Next, explore the enormous Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarry—a window into ancient craftsmanship, revealing why it was abandoned mid-carving when a crack appeared .
Midday, we treat you to lunch at a local restaurant before hopping on a motorboat to Agilkia Island, home to the enchanting Philae Temple dedicated to the goddess Isis. This temple was rescued from flooding and now stands majestic on an island—its graceful columns and hieroglyphs full of myth and history .
After soaking in the sights, hop into your hotel for check-in and enjoy a leisurely evening—choose to relax or attend the optional sound-and-light show at Philae Temple (a great atmospheric experience!).
Day 2 starts early at around 3:30–4:30 AM. We drive south to Abu Simbel (about 3 hours), arriving before the sun gets too strong . Marvel at the colossal twin temples carved into rock: the grand Temple of Ramses II with its four towering seated statues, and the smaller Temple of Hathor dedicated to his favorite queen, Nefertari—one of the rare ancient Egyptian temples honoring a queen at equal scale to the pharaoh .
Following your guided tour, enjoy lunch in Aswan then begin the return journey—arriving back in Marsa Alam by evening. With two full days of temples, history, and southern Egyptian hospitality, this adventure strikes the perfect balance of exploration and rest.
